South Point …On Point! - Alexandre and Andrea

We are Alexandre and Andrea Ford-Smith.

How We Met -

In September 2016, while swimming in the online dating pool, we came across each other’s profile. After a few weeks of talking and texting, we went on our first date at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. We began exclusively dating (the first time lol) in November 2016. We quickly became apart of each other’s world! Through ups and downs and some time apart, our connection and attraction to one another never faded. Alex said from the beginning that God told him I would be his wife. And though I may not have seen his vision from God as quickly as he did, I’m so grateful that he kept choosing me!

"if we can make it through that, we can make it through anything!"

A Quarantine Love Story -

Since no 2020 love story is complete without talking about the pandemic. Alex likes to credit the quarantine with bringing us back together, and he may be right! After our COVID-19 scare and 14 days quarantined in a nine-hundred-square-foot apartment together, we decided if we can make it through that, we can make it through anything!

The Proposal -

On a balmy morning in October, Alex woke me and our boys up at the ungodly hour of 6am. He made us go to Lone Mountain, our favorite walking trail. He told me we were meeting our friends there for a hike, but nobody was there when we arrived. So, we started the walk ourselves. He was so jittery, but I didn't really notice at first (though I was a little irritated by the fact that he wanted us to hike up this mountain TWICE!) Halfway around the base of the mountain, he said we needed to turn around and go back to meet our friends who were waiting for us in the parking lot.

"I noticed a beautiful balloon garland in the distance"

As we rounded the corner near the tennis courts at Lone Mountain Regional Park, I noticed a beautiful balloon garland in the distance. As we got closer, I began to recognize people I knew: my best friends, my parents, my younger brother, my Nanna. I heard music playing; it was "Marry Me" by Train. And then I realized what was happening. This amazing man then turned to me and, being the wordsmith that he is, proclaimed to the world that I am the ocean to his beach! And he asked me to be his wife. It was perfect in every way. And the easiest "yes" I've ever given!

The Micro Wedding -

We decided we wanted to have a destination wedding in 2022, and began planning. However, the uncertainty of the pandemic made us quickly realize we didn’t want to wait any longer. So, in the most beautiful intimate backyard wedding, in front of our immediate family and closest friends, we said “I do”! It was a magical night that we will live in forever!
