Love at the Laundromat - Laundromat Express

This couple is the greatest! So much true and fun love between them! Murray SawChuck and Dani Elizabeth, two super star Las Vegas Strip performers (see links at the bottom of the story for information and websites) and lovers recently engaged, were gracious enough to do this photoshoot at the laundromat...it made for some super cute photos. Wouldn't you agree?

Love at the Laundromat! Yes! Why not enjoy the day doing chores together. Take your load to the laundromat, throw it in the washer [no not THAT load] and just enjoy each others company. Just the two of you. It's therapeutic. Leave your phones in the car, gaze into each other's eyes, talk about back when you first met, reminisce about the olden days. It's actually a very serene place to do all of that. Get flirty, have fun! We wouldn't recommend sitting on the washers or climbing in any of the machines, we know that's just not safe! Use your common sense, no sex in public either, hope we don't need to tell you any of this. Act like adults, treat people kindly, you can always go to your car to boink if it gets to that. Just a suggestion.

[hey this is Vegas after all!] Don't forget your soap, but if you do, the little shops inside the Laundromat Express locations have got your back! Need a quick alteration? They can help with that too. Need your pants shortened? Need a few seams taken out? [we know you gained some weight over the Covid Holiday] They can hook you up!

Single? Why not go to mingle? Ya gotta figure that you both already have some things in common. You both most likely live in the same neighborhood, you both picked the same day for doing laundry and you're both probably clean, or at least you both will be by the end of the spin cycle! You can gage their sense of style by scopin' out the goods... by goods, I mean laundry. I mean, don't be a creeper and look at the unmentionables or stalk the persons dryer, but hey, just kind of take a gander over to see what's in the basket. Do not judge the person by what they wear at the laundromat, after all this is laundry day. Strike up a conversation..."excuse me, do you come here often"? Or "may I borrow a cap full of Downy"? If nothing else, maybe you'll meet a new Starbuck's buddy and you will be everlasting friends. And then you'll find out that they have a friend they want to set you up with. See? A win-win.

The first electric wringer clothes washer was developed in the early 1900s. Customers loved the self-service format of the store, and soon laundromats were exploding in popularity and popping up all over the country. Typically, customers paid by the hour to use the stores’ electric, coin-operated washing machines. They appreciated being able to use the machines for a low cost, because many families couldn’t afford to purchase personal washing machines at the time. Laundromats allowed people to experience a luxury they wouldn’t otherwise be able to access.

1950s, 1960s, and 1970s

The public laundry concept really took off in the 1950s. However, as laundromats gained popularity, the stores became increasingly beat up and battered through customer neglect. Investors began to recognize the importance of a hands-on approach to laundromat management. They invested in equipment maintenance, janitorial services, and extra services (dry-cleaning, wash-dry-fold, tailoring). After a decline in interest in the late 1950s, the self-service laundry industry swelled back up again in the 1960s and 1970s.

Today

Over the past few decades, laundry technology has improved dramatically. Energy-efficient, low-water washers are gaining in popularity and dryers are much faster than they were in decades past. Although many machines still rely on coin-operated mechanisms, digital card-operated payment systems are also available. Because laundromats typically operate on a self-serve, automated system, their owners are able to step back and manage their stores from afar. Many laundromats include amenities like free Wi-Fi, TVs, vending machines, and children’s play areas.
